Weekly Women's Update
Welcome to this edition of the Council on Women and Girls Weekly Highlights! This week, President Obama traveled to El Paso, Texas to discuss the importance of fixing our broken immigration system. Later this week, The President focused on building a strong national infrastructure by pursuing a clean energy economy. In honor of Mother’s Day, the First Lady and Dr. Biden welcomed military spouses to the White House and thanked them for the sacrifices they make for their families.

President Obama on Fixing Our Broken Immigration System: “E Pluribus, Unum”

We reached out to mom Veterans and their family members for photographs and stories, and have received an overwhelming number of diverse responses from women involved in conflict ranging from WWII to today’s war in Iraq.

On Wednesday The President and First Lady welcomed accomplished poets, musicians, artists and students from across the country to the White House for a celebration of American poetry and prose.
